Papa, The Philosopher

The reason why I chose this article lies in it. The situation and the solution to that situation are really impressive. I can say that it is an understanding and also as the title suggests philosophic solution. There are many problems which need just philosophic solutions and satisfy you. To be honest I expected different plot from this article.  Something more philosophic yet it has enough philosophy. To sum up the story in the article there is a boy whose family is Italian. Even if he had never experienced cultural shock before, he experienced deeply from that when he came to Junior High School. Everyone injured him of being different. One day it became intolerable and he got lots of throw on him and he arrived to home and cried a lot. Then his father came and listened to him. The boy explained all happened events. He expected his father to get angry and go to get revenge. However, surprisingly his father just talked and explained the situation. He told that that happened to him, them as well. He expected this event to happen. Afterwards, he asked his son be patient and proud of being different. There were certain strength and determination in his speech that the boy got the lesson. He understood that acceptance and understanding can be expected only from the strong. People who experienced this kind of situation cannot understand who has this position. I agree with this statement. When I was in High School in my country there in my class had a Russian girl. She barely had conversation with us. We said she is crazy. Some of us injured her saying she is Russian and it is normal to her be with boys and etc. Now, I am abroad and I understand her. I also have some misunderstanding with natives and mostly I cannot make sense their humor understanding. This is culture shock. Fortunately, I am in Turkey and people are kind and respectful. The language and culture is closer to mine. Therefore, the father stated in the article that his son should be proud of his being unique. It is acceptable but we know that there many of him in his country and it’s kind of jealousness. On the other hand, the natives could learn different customs of his country and language and many other factors. Yet, at the same time it could cause to be jealousy of him on the natives. They do not want to listen to him anymore. Hence, being different could cause both good and torture. The thing not to forget is that “acceptance and understanding can be expected only from the strong”.
